The May Institute’s Adult Shared and Supportive Living Program is seeking an experienced Placement Coordinator to be responsible for the recruitment, qualification and training of host families.  The Placement Coordinator also oversees the referral and matching of adults with intellectual disabilities, autism and related disorders with qualified host families.  This is a unique opportunity to be part of building our shared and supportive living program. 


This position will be part-time, 20 hours a week.



  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase the number of qualified host families
  • Assume primary responsibility for recruiting host families in the assigned catchment area
  • Present shared living and the benefits of becoming a host family at community and civic events
  • Screen, interview and evaluate applicants for shared living
  • Conduct home studies and evaluations
  • In conjunction with clinical staff and the program director assess and match individuals with host families
  • Coordinate and oversee the referral and intake process
  • Will be part of a 24 hour on-call rotation
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with DDS, families, and the community
  • Attend and participate in trade meetings
  • Collect data and complete reports
  • Utilizing assessments, interviews, references and observations qualify host families
  • Assist and oversee the completion and filing a host family applications and related documents.
  • Coordinate orientation and training for newly qualified host families
  • Attend and participate in clinical, staff and team meetings
  • Ensure that QI/QA procedures are adhered to, including maintaining environmental safety as well as a functional and homelike environment
  • Assist in the overall development of the Shared and Supportive Living Program


  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field required
  • Experience with Shared Living or AFC preferred
  • Experience with behavior management required
  • Strong writing and assessment skills
  • Valid driver’s license and 2 years of driving experience
  • Willingness/Ability to travel within the catchment area up to 60% of the time
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
